JNN and RE-TV take flight into the Big Apple

Cable Jamaica has signed a ground breaking contract which will see the availability of JNN and RETV in the New York tri-state area of the United States. Both channels will become available as of August 2, 2009 on World Cable. This is the first time that a deal of this magnitude has been broken.

Jamaicans and Caribbean nationals in the New York area, will see JNN and RETV as they do in the Caribbean.

Head of Broadcast & Creative Services at Cable Jamaica, Egbert Von Frankenberg, commented that the deal was a worthwhile venture. ‘This is a great move and we can now offer 24/7 content to the Jamaican Diaspora in the New York area. With the two channels, we can give viewers as taste of what’s happening in Jamaica and the Caribbean in news, business, entertainment, lifestyle and music. What more can you ask for?

Lindon Brown of Balv Media Group who partnered with Cable Jamaica to facilitate the access to World Cable, commented, “ We look forward to growing nationwide with World cable, JNN and RETV even as we continue to explore more avenues to showcase our Caribbean culture.”

Brown has had a business relationship with RETV since 2007, and this move has further cemented the relationship.

Members of the RJR Communications Group, JNN and RETV currently broadcast in Jamaica, with RETV being watched by hundreds of thousands of viewers in more than 14 Caribbean countries.
